"In an ideal world, we would all be secure and confident all the time. We would eat what we want, and exercise simply to be healthy and strong. We would link arms and take to the streets in the Prettylution declaring, "I AM PRETTY! I ROCK! SHUT UP!" We wouldn't need anyone or anything to reinforce that for us, that's how confident we would be. In an ideal world."--Doom Song
So Wednesday I went to Target and wandered into the makeup aisles because I knew I needed to lemming something. I found the Lip Stains, but then couldn't
remember what I was supposed to get. I looked at the colors and the names before deciding on Plum Pout. Come home, check the thread here and find the reason
that name stuck with me was because that was what I was supposed to not get. And it is too popsicle-like for me. Lemming fail. I need to add the board to my
phone to prevent that from happening again.
I came across a bunch of the Jemma Kidd and NP Set makeup on 75% off at Target yesterday, and picked up several things. Word to the wise - the JK stuff is
pigmented. I was testing it out this morning and am looking a little Mimi-from-The-Drew-Carey-Show, but I'm not really going anywhere
today so it's no biggie. I've barely bought any makeup in the past couple of years so it was fun to go on a little (bargain-priced) shopping spree!
Has anybody tried Arbonne? My MIL had an Arbonne party last week, and I ordered a couple of things. A little pricey, but not more than anything from the
department store. Their anti-aging line is supposed to be pretty good, so I ordered a clay-based mask and their 'peel' night cream. Will report back
once I actually get it and get to try it.
I have thus far avoided the Arbonne stuff, but my sister uses several of their skin-care products and seems to like it. Looking forward to the review once you
get a chance to try things out!
Me again, but it's been long enough that this gets a new post. Even though in theory I think this recent roller-ball gimmick is ridiculous, I am trying out
the RoC Complete Lift Lifting Eye Roller. Man, I am such a fashion and beauty hypocrite this week (see clothing thread)! Anyway, I don't think it's
really doing much to lift the eye area, but it does feel nice and cool when I roll it on in the morning.
I love the Garnier eye roller thing. Like you, I'm not sure it's doing anything, but it does feel good. Actually, I think it does de-puff my
eyes a little bit, which is good since lack of sleep makes me look like my eyes are encased in dinner-roll dough.
Yes, I would say time to prune. Especially if any of the tubes are more than 9 mos - a year old, cuz they get bacteria and stuff. I just bought a new tube
myself.
I couldn't resist the siren song of $200 worth of makeup for only $20, and bought thisat Ulta today.
I would prune. I use Great Lash, and get a new one every three months or so.
I am thinking of getting a Body Shop face kit. I know b used to work there a while ago. Now that my job actually pays me a decent amount, I am
graduating from Target knockoffs to something a little nicer. But my skin is mostly clear (knock on wood), so I don't want to go too crazy.
I have bought some Mary Kay stuff that I like, but I don't want to order. Instant gratification and all.
Ah, I worked there a long long time ago when Anita Roddick was still in charge, instead of a bunch of corporate bottom-liners. That said, I think a lot of the
products are generally the same. Hopefully they haven't changed the formulas too much, and the staff should still be able to help you out and give you
samples of stuff to try first if you're concerned about anything.
I need a good face moisturizer. Nothing too heavy or oily, because then I just feel greasy, but something that will actually put some moisture back into my
skin, which is feeling a bit dry and crepey these days. I recently saw someone describing Philosophy's Hope in a Bottle (Jar?) and thought it sounded like
what I was looking for, so I thought I'd ask here, where the real experts are. Wiki, didn't you use that one?
I just restocked with Clinique Moisture Surge and I like it
a lot. It's almost a gel, and it sinks in right away. Doesn't really smell like anything, which is good--I couldn't stand the smell of Hope in a
Container.
An update on the ROC stuff: I think I had a sensitization reaction to it, so I tossed it. I'll have to look for something more gentle for a morning eye
cream- or just stick a tube of my usual moisturizer in the fridge!
I love the Seaweed mositurizer. I use it with the tea tree oil wash and toner. My skin is clearer than ever (although i still get a few flare ups). I wonder if
it's the cleanser or the fact that with mirena I seem to have no discernable menstrual cycle?

Sorry I haven't checked this thread! And you know what's sad? I can't remember! I'm not using it now. I think I got it once for Christmas, but
when it was gone I couldn't afford it again, and I totally forgot about it. If it's what I think it was, I liked it but it wasn't miraculous. Hmm.
FWIW, I currently use Neutrogena Healthy Defense or Peter Thomas Roth something with spf in the morning. At night, that is still experimental. Currently I have
a tub of Alba something cream. It's a bit thick and smells too floral, so I don't think I'll repurchase.
Can anyone recommend any of the teeth whitening systems (Crest Whitestrips, etc)? I did the strips waaaay back when they first came out and didn't have
much luck but maybe things have been reformulated/improved...?
I bought the target knockoff of the Aquafresh trays and I was really happy with them. They kind of hurt the roof of my mouth a little, but it was tolerable. My
dentist told me that I should use trays instead of strips due to the shape of my teeth.
So this weekend I went to the Bobbi Brown counter because I've heard good things about their undereye concealer (read: "this weekend I went to the
Bobbi Brown counter to buy overpriced cosmetics that I will use once or twice and never again.") The lady there of course decided to apply lots of
different kinds of makeup in the hopes that I would buy more. And, I was game. She was oohing and aahing over her handiwork and indeed, she was able to make
the darker skin under my eyes go away, but it also gave me a kind of "dead" look around the eyes. I can't quite explain what I mean -- it was
almost like my skin was too perfect, if that makes any sense? Maybe it was just because I'm so used to my dark circles that I can't imagine myself any
other way.
She also put on a lot of sparkly highlighter and eyeshadow and such. When I got home and was able to look at myself carefully in the mirror, I was kind of
horrified. I got an immediate vision of the Borg Queen -- not that I was that pale or had wires coming out of my head, but it just didn't seem like my face
at all.
Oh well. This makes me 0-for-one-million when it comes to successful department store makeup jobs. There's always one issue or another. But I did get a
nice lip gloss.
