"In an ideal world, we would all be secure and confident all the time. We would eat what we want, and exercise simply to be healthy and strong. We would link arms and take to the streets in the Prettylution declaring, "I AM PRETTY! I ROCK! SHUT UP!" We wouldn't need anyone or anything to reinforce that for us, that's how confident we would be. In an ideal world."--Doom Song
Um, wow, those stick-on eye shadow applicators are interesting. I think Sally Hansen makes a similar product for nail polish? I saw it in this month's InStyle and thought it looked interesting - lord knows I mess up my polish by not allowing it to dry properly.
So, I'm in a bit of a quandary here. I bought a product on Saturday at Sephora, and barely an hour later, accidentally left the bag at the Apple store. Of course, by the time I realized it was missing (not even a half-hour later!) the bag was gone and nobody turned it in. So, here's my question: do you think it's worth emailing Sephora customer service and asking for either A. a refund, or B. replacement product?
I don't know why I don't listen to you wise women, but I finally tried the apple-cider thing on my face, and it's a revelation. All the hatefulness on my cheek has cleared up (though that's partly because I figured out the hair product that was doing a number on my skin), my skin tone is evening out, and I'm not an oil slick within four hours of washing my face. Yay! I might be pretty again in time for school to start!
I currently have a zit the size of a pea on my chin and it hurts like a mofo. The area of hurt is about 3/4inch in all directions. The rest of my skin is generally fine so all over acne treatments dry me out.
God, I hate those hurty spots. Have you tried a hot or cold compress?
There's a more involved version of the cider thing, but I've been wetting a cotton square, splashing some vinegar on it, and wiping down my face. Then I brush my teeth while I let it sit, then rinse off.
Eta: In celebration of the return of red lipstick, I just ordered some Noir Red from here. Please let it be awesome!
Yeah, I wanted Red Velvet, but they were out. I got samples of that, Cherry Red, and Merlot. The MUA girls were all raves about all four colors, so I'm hopeful. It shipped like lightning, so I'll report asap.
Has anyone noticed the trend that has been popping up on some fashion mag covers in which they make the cover model (Fishstick Paltrow and Sienna Miller) have thick dark eyebrows reminiscent of old Brooke Shields or Madonna in the True Blue era?
Why are they always going with extremes of super thin eyebrows or super heavy/dark eyebrows? What's wrong with normal, nicely shaped brows? So much more flattering!
So I've been using Juvena Vital Eye eye cream for years and I love it. I don't know if it stops wrinkles, but it makes my eyes feel moisturized and happy. But it's a little jar and doesn't travel well so I can't take it to the gym because it would get all stuck to the lid and that annoys me. I've been looking for a cheap something to use at the gym because my eyes have felt dry. At the healthy food store I got this organic Alba Green Tea eye gel with aloe vera. It's in a pump which is good for travel. It's a gel, so not quite as moisturizing, but I swear it kind of tightens up the skin (at least temporarily). If one were looking for something.
I stopped by the Bobbi Brown counter last night on my way to the wine tasting to look at eye shadow. Came home with the long wear gel eyeliner in Violent Ink and Heather eyeshadow, plus left my number so they can call me when they get more of the long wear cream shadows in - I liked Ballet Pink and Sand Dollar, and both were sold out. The salesgirl showed me the new metallics palettes they'll be selling starting next Wednesday, and they look fun. I'm tempted by the Velvet Plum set, but I'm not sure how much use I would really get out of it.
Origins is having a promotion now at their stores/counters where you can pick 5 samples from their top 10 selling products. I got the Modern Friction micordermabrasion cream, Plantidote face serum, Peace of Mind on the spot relief cream, A Perfect World white tea skin guardian and A Perfect World moisturizer.
And I made an appointment to go back in a few weeks for a free 20 minute hand and neck/scalp massage.
Oh, yeah. Lipstick. I got the Besame Noir Red in full size, and Merlot, Cherry Red, and Red Velvet. The Noir veers toward wine, and is really striking and pretty. Love the Merlot, just a straight-up burgundy. Sadly, the Cherry went weirdly pink on me, but the Red Velvet is total vavoomy red. I've used both the Noir and the Merlot for going out, and they held up well through drinking, smoking, and talking. The texture is interesting, substantial but not thick or dry. Without blotting, it's a nice medium between matte and glossy. After blotting and adding a bit of gloss on top, it still held up well.
The full-size lipstick is just a wee little thing, but the packaging is beautiful. The samples came in awesome little screw-top capsule things. I got a retractable lip brush from Sephora that I'm using with all the colors, and even the samples will last a while, as the colors are really saturated so you don't use much.
I'm still trying to get used to the look of lipstick again, since I've been wearing colored balm or gloss for the past while. I like them, though, and think I will love them once it's actually fall. I'll try to remember to take pictures in the near future.
I think you've sold me on the Merlot and I know you've sold me on the Red Velvet. A lot of "true red" goes pink on me so it's good to know about the Cherry.
